Bondage & Restraints

All tied up and nowhere to go

Rope harnesses, chain bondage, plastic wrap mummification, leather restraints, and straight jackets are just a few types of bondage, and the possibilities are limited only by your imagination. Bondage can be a form of submission unto itself, or can give you something to fight against while your Daddy fucks you.

When doing bondage, here are a few things for Tops to know to ensure that hot bondage bottom comes back for more. Very restrictive bondage and suspension can cut off blood flow and even breathing. Pretending to leave a bottom is one thing, but a good bondage Top monitors the bottom at all times. If you’re at a play party and have to walk away, ask a DM (dungeon monitor) or friend to watch. If you’re playing privately and have to go the bathroom, carry on a conversation so that you can still hear the bottom talking.

It’s important to watch a bottom’s circulation in their extremities. Check your bottom’s hands and feet occasionally – tingling, numbness, coldness, or change in color may mean you need to rearrange their position or loosen the restraint for blood flow. Special consideration should be given to any limb that is restrained in a position above the heart (like hands on a cross).

No matter what, always have a quick escape. If your bottom gets faint, dizzy or nauseous, release them quickly. Many players use EMT shears, which can cut through almost anything and don’t carry a risk of puncturing the skin. It may be emotionally hard to cut through that expensive Japanese rope or a nice leather sleepsack, but it may save a life.

The same applies to metal restraints that are less flexible and can be more abrasive to the skin, muscles and nerves. If using handcuffs, keep a key handy. Two-way locking handcuffs (ones that lock into one position) can prevent over tightening. Any kind of metal bondage done around the head and neck should be constantly monitored, and a quick release is really important.

In the unlikely event that your bottom passes out, be sure you can release them even as “dead” weight. If you have to lift someone to undo a clasp, this can be a problem. A little practice ahead of time with different kinds of clasps goes a long way.

Keep in mind that a panicking bottom will almost always fight against bondage, making them more difficult to release. Having a way out, whether with EMT shears, special knots or quick releases, will help the bottom stay calmer, and the chances of them wanting to play with you again are much greater.

Finally, some thoughts and tips for bottoms so that hot, sexy Top asks you to play again:

Tops have lots of different abilities, but mind reading is generally not one of them. If your hand or other extremity falls asleep or gets cold, or you feel like you’re about to pass out, let the Top know. A timely adjustment can allow a scene to continue and be more pleasant. It’s OK to ask the Top in advance about quick release plans or how you can self-release in case of emergency. It’s fine to ask for a sip of water if needed. If a bondage condition is cutting off circulation or breathing, speak up quickly or have a signal to indicate your need if you’re gagged. Passing out during bondage is neither fun nor sexy.
